You realize that this dude has been putting out music before TPAB right? Just because you're just now hearing about him doesn't mean he hasn't been creating music in this same vein for a while now. And he's more of a singer than a rapper, so I honestly do not understand how people are coming up with Kendrick Lamar comparisons.
Was Venice influenced by TPAB too? That released in 2014

You know the more I listen to the album the more influence I hear from it.
You must not listen to a whole lot of jazzy soulful r&b/hip-hop if the first thing you think is this sounds like Kendrick or TPAB. TPAB's whole sound was lifted from/influenced by Robert Glasper, Thundercat, Erykah Badu, Parliament, Sa-Ra, Mos Def, Common, etc.

This album sounds a lot more lively and brighter than TPAB. Some shyt you throw on chillin', the name Malibu fits it perfectly, feels like perfect beach vibing kind of music. Yal tripping
