Unless weapons are involved, MMA fighters are better trained to be in that type of situation than boxers just strictly because they can handle themselves when the fight inevitably ends up on the ground.

If they clinch, an MMA has the advantage -- takedowns, holds, etc. If boxers keep their distance, MMA fighters use of leg kicks gives them a better range.
