That keeps you on your tippy-tippy-toes
Like that sellout, not callin' no names
But really, "who's bad
''

here is the explanation that Rap Genius gave :

Yes, he’s dissing “Bad” singer Michael Jackson. In an Entertainment Weekly cover story, Andre once told Pink this:

P!nk: I’m the only person I’ve ever met in my entire life who was never really into Prince.
Andre 3000: Are you serious? You have been deprived! But you was a Michael Jackson fan, huh?
P!nk: Uh-huh.
Andre 3000: Awwww, man. Prince kicked Michael Jackson’s ass!

Its his opinion...but the diss was uncalled for coming from a nikka that wore football pads and feathers all just for shock value

Dre wanted to look like the music, just like Jimi Hendrix. Those football pad represented hard hitting lyrics, the type that could have nikkas in their feelings. The feathers show how the aforementioned lyrics were delivered on the track; floating and swirling around on the beat.

The man likes Prince over Micheal. A lot of people do, including me. Don't come at stacks no mo.

You probably put more thought into it than Andre 3000 did. He was probably like 'Man no one in Hip Hop wears shoulder pads or tons of feathers!' and you hit us with these real deep 'hard hitting lyrics' metaphor and 'the feathers were a nod to the struggle that Native American's had right as the English showed up' type shyt.

he may have interacted with him and had a bad experience. i'm not really gonna get mad at him for it. there's a good chance he had more interactions with him than i ever had.

Nah he probably just said what he meant.

After icons/legends die, people always talk about them at their peak as if they were perceived that way their entire. MJ peaked with Thriller in 1983 and while he was still a megastar afterwards, it was downhill in terms of his quality of music.

In 94, MJ was pretty :flabbynsick: and hip-hop was taking over. MJ got clowned by regular people all the time for getting nosejobs, bleaching his skin and being suspect. Someone talking negatively about him in a rap song wasn't shocking then. Other rappers had punchlines about him being a child molester.

After people die everyone acts like they were some kind of sacred cow and they were never criticized.

And if the "King" was alive he would say:

"But keep in mind...i ate well off of Andre what's his name and the outkast for that matter...She lives in my lap and over half the songs on the LOVE BELOW were part of my SONY/ATV catalog......he might have made it a hot line...but i've got the rights to the hot song"- MJ

not a big deal. stuff like this used to be commonplace.

as far as Mike jack goes, run dmc crushed his glitter glove in '85.

it was open-season after that.
