Andre don’t have NO solo albums nikka. String together 10 solo Andre hip hop SONGS fam. U can’t . That counts for something. shyt. I don’t see NONE of u nikkas rating Ceelo. Meanwhile Ceelo was right there with Dre lyrically AND he did the alternate shyt better than Dre. He could sing and play instruments better than Dre as well. And Big Boi dropped dope albums. It ADDS to his legacy with OutKast. Yet WEIRDOS that’s so thirsty for a South version of Jay and Nas keep disrespecting Big Boi for this lame nikka. Ain’t no logical reason for there to be a hip hop top 50 list. Have Andre sitting on the top 10 or top 5. And have Big Boi at number 25 or 30 or some shyt. That shyt is WILD flagrant I don’t care what nobody say. Nobody gonna convince me otherwise. Thats pretentious af. And what makes it WORSE. Is the fact that the nikka don’t even respect hip hop as a craft. So why force this nikka on these lists when he don’t even respect the shyt?

Ceelo is right up there with 3000 in terms of talent. It’s just outside of Goodie first two albums and Crazy, his alums haven’t been as impactful.

But you are wrong that 3000 does respect the artform. He respects it so much that he doesn’t want to half ass it.

Man, you need to relax, so angry all the time, :heh:

you ain’t been the same since a certain sensitive rapper got tucked back into his pajama clothes. :lolbron:

A bit torn, I agree that he’s a person and allowed to do what he wants, but this self-centered “he doesn’t owe you anything” rhetoric is strange to me. People supported him for decades, they bought his music, they went to his shows, bought his merch. Their support allowed him to live his dreams, and he deserves it all of course, he’s a top tier mc. But jeez, show some appreciation to the folks whose support got you there… we truly live in the most selfish of times. This is mainly directed at the people ITT that think “he doesn’t owe you anything” is a good retort

Artists produce.

CeeLo has been a more active artist than Andre 3000. His work with Goodie Mob, within the Dungeon Family, as a solo artist, with Danger Mouse...

The only way you can argue that Andre 3000 is a better artist is if you believe that 3k's OutKast output from 1994 to 2002 is significantly superior and diverse to anything CeeLo has ever put out. Superior... maybe. Diverse... No. The Love Below isn't enough here. Neither is that abortion of a flute album.

And this also applies to comparisons between BigBoi and Andre as well. Regardless of personal preference, the only way you have Andre in a top 5 with Big Boi nowhere closeby is if you believe Andre was so far ahead of his partner across the 4 albums that Big Boi could have been swapped out with Pras :mjlol:
pretty easy...3k is on 4 classic albums and another 2 great ones

cee lo is on 1 classic album 1 near clasic and 2 other good albums imo

3k just been part of way more great music overall imo cee lo still amazing and i see the argument

Cee Lo is easily a better singer than Andre 3000 and a better overall artist. Cee Lo isn't as skilled on other instruments as Andre 3000. 3000 played most of the instruments on Love Below. Andre is a better MC though Cee Lo's performance on Soul Food >>>> Andre up until ATLiens. Andre on "Thought Process" is why he's ranked.

There was a a list in the 90's where Andre 3000 and Cee Lo Green made the Top 50 greatest MC's. Big Boi wasn't ranked. The Source nominated Andre 3000 lyricist of the year. No Big Boi. Andre 3000 got quotables. No Big Boi. Cee Lo Green got the quotable for his verse for "Git Up, Git Out".

If the South wanted someone to push into the Jay and Nas convos, there was already Scarface. Wayne was pushed into those convos as well. To a lesser extent, so was T.I. Maybe just maybe, a lot of people were impacted by Andre 3000's lyrics and his lyrics impacted Hip Hop in such a way that the culture sees him as a GOAT even without a solo album.

Jadakiss is in these lists and we don't even see Styles mentioned even though his debut solo album is better than any Jada solo.

Exactly. People engage in revisionist history and downplay Andre because they don't like his current stance and they take issue with his place in other people's rankings which has always been absurd. The audacity to tell anyone who they can and can't have in their personal top 5 is crazy. People have Kiss in their top when he's never been a consistent solo artist and has had the same subject matter/flow his whole career. If they love Kiss that much so be it. It's all opinions and there's little factual basis for any list so these arguments are pointless.

Big Boi always been nice to me but Andre had more impactful verses.

Return of the G
Gangsta shyt
Etc...

There was a point where they were even then Dre started to get more introspective and creative. He grew into a different artist from album to album. His improvement lyrically from Southernplayalistic on was noticeable. Big Boi matured in his content and his pen/flow got sharper but he still felt like the same person so Andre's improvement as an MC stood out more.

That nikka don’t respect shyt kid. He looks down upon it. Feels he’s too mature for it. And feels that u can’t mature in it. Will perform the flute in which he DEFINITELY is half assing. But won’t celebrate with his brother on stage for whats essentially a lifetime achievement award.

His weirdness is what made him great. He contributed his time and energy to the culture - let him have his own time.
He owes you nothing more.

As a music fan, there’s nothing I can’t think of that annoys me more than when someone is actually a great at making music and decides to focus on other shyt. I hate this fashion era we’ve been in for the past two decades. Hate it with Kanye, Cudi, Rocky, quite a few others. But that’s their choice and I don’t take it personal. I ain’t mad at Dre for going his path. Who the fukk are we to tell him what to do with his life. But I’ll say this, all y’all who put him in the same league/above people like Nas/Hov/Biggie, I’ll never understand you and never will
