I don't think it's just money though.

Hendrix's estate would also want creative control over the script and how Jimi is portrayed. So in some ways this might be a good thing as it won't be your typical sanitized biopic where the subject is treated like he's Jesus.

Just saw the movie, was expecting it to be terrible but it's not

Best portrayal in a biopic since Denzel in Malcolm X and Jamie Foxx in Ray

u actually felt like u were watching Jimi Hendrix and not Andre 3000.

Dude sounded exactly like Jimi, I literally heard ZERO southern ATL accent in his voice at all.

And he looked identical to the man, it was as if it was documentary footage.

Wish I could say the same for the James brown flick but I can't (good movie but the actor looked nothing like James brown)

I already had alot of respect for Andre before this film but I've gained even more respect for him after this

It was straight

film isn't a biopic from covers infancy to death

it only covers his very beginnings as a starving broke artist right before he made it big and ends right when he's about to blow up.

So the fact that his actual music wasn't in the film doesn't really hurt because he wouldn't have created those big hits yet anyway.

The songs that are in the film however sound exactly like the stuff Jimi would have created though, it's cool

A couple of covers that Jimi actually recorded like "Wild Thang" are recreated for the film tho

This was a good movie that would have been great if they had Jimi's music to cap it off once he made it big at the end.
