Andre Drummond, the next big thing - The Washington Post
As a freshman at the University of Connecticut, Andre Drummond averaged just 10 points, 7.6 rebounds before making the leap to the NBA as the 9th overall pick in the 2012 Draft. Now, after two seasons, the Big Penguin is on a trajectory to be one of the NBA greats.
Yes, I said one of the NBA greats.
Drummond led the league in offensive rebounds (440) for the Pistons this season, 99 more than second-best DeAndre Jordan of the Los Angles Clippers. Over 75 percent of his successful field goals were either dunks or layups, giving him the second best effective shooting percentage in the league (62.3 percent), an improvement over his rookie season (60.8 percent).

Jared Dubin did some search acrobaticsand found that until two years ago Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo was the only player in league history to average at least 13 points, 13 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steals in either his rookie or sophomore season.Drummond now joins him on that list.

Among the eleven players in the 3-point era who amassed over 3,000 minutes and 1,000 points in the first two seasons before their 21st birthday, only Lebron James (19.4), Anthony Davis (16.5) and Dwight Howard (15.9) have generated more win shares than Drummond (14.4) over that span. The ones with less: Chris Bosh, Kevin Garnett, Troy Parker, Carmelo Anthony, Shaquille O’Neal, Kevin Durant and Thaddeus Young.
