Tough to say because with the old guard struggling and perennial favorites making moves or battling injuries, its more wide open than any year I can remember. Warriors are clicking on all cylinders right now but its JanuaryWho you think is gonna win the ship breh?
The West is too strong and I'm still not comfortable calling Golden State the favorite to win it all as they'd essentially be coming from out of nowhere straight to winning it all and that rarely happens. If I'm betting Warriors or the field, I'm taking the field.

For arguments sake let's say that's true, how did they become bandwagon fans in the first place and how did the fan base keep growing? What you're proposing here can't be be possibly be true. If you're saying they became fans after the first championship, then how would they trade in that championship and all the others that came after that for a roster that hasn't won anything yet?

They became fans because the team kept winning and only fell off for a year. They haven't been this bad for this long in a very long time, longer than these dudes was fans of the team. It's easy to be a fan of a perennial winner, now that the team isn't winning and isn't exciting to watch you see the fans dispersing on this board. There's a few diehards that ride but most of these nikkas is like Patriots fans outside of New England.

If you're saying that these bandwagon supporters only started following the Lakers/Kobe after they won a championship, how would a scenario exist that they would trade in all those championships for a team that hasn't won anything yet? There's no logical possibility of what you're suggesting that could occur. Those bandwagon fans would never trade in those championships for a roster that hasn't won anything, for the simple fact that those fans would never exist in the first place - because they only ever existed because of the championships. It's a butterfly effect.
Lakers/Kobe 'bandwagon' fans wouldn't exist if Kobe didn't have five championships.
