Andrew Bynum has received criticism from NBA analysts such as Magic Johnson and former mentors like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and now his former high school coaches admit they do not have fond memories of the center.
"Everyone here at school says the same thing: Whats wrong with him? Why does he act like that?" says St. Joes athletic director Jerry Smith. "He went from someone were proud of to someone whose name we dont even mention anymore."
Bynum, who attended St. Joseph High School before declaring for the 2005 NBA Draft, was officially announced out for the season on Monday with surgery on both knees.
"Yeah, I never respond to that kind of request, because Andrew has chosen not to stay in touch for whatever reason, so I just dont get involved with it," says former St. Joe's coach Mark Taylor. "I dont dislike him, and hell continue to do well if he can stay healthy, but Im sure hes got people who will guide him in times like this."
