Retiring young doesn’t make you a bust
Retiring young doesn’t make you a bust. By that same standard Patrick Willis would be a bust for retiring after 8 seasons at just 29.
The hype is irrelevant to how good he was. To live up to the hype he’d have had to be 2004 or 2009 or 2013 Peyton levels of good, and it’s not reasonable to ask that of anyone, including Manning. The question that should be asked is whether or not he was good enough to warrant being the top overall pick, and he was. They absolutely made the right choice going with Luck anyway. There was legit doubt that Manning would ever be right or able to throw at all after his neck surgery and he broke down by December of 2014 anyway. If they went with someone other than him, they’d have been looking for a quarterback by 2015 or 2016 regardless and considering how hopelessly dependent they were on him during his time there, it’s unlikely they would’ve gotten another title anyway.Patrick Willis wasn’t hyped since high school. Luck was. I don’t think Luck is a bust.....but it makes the way they pushed Manning out of the door for him look a bit wild in retrospect.
Finally throwing a college sized ball.
Boy better go be an architect l, he done.
