Budden and Rogan have very different types of shows.
Rogan has 1 on 1, 3hour convos with people from different areas of life, fields, etc.
Budden has a current affairs type show with a core group and no guests (rare guests)
Not saying one is better than the other. What i will say is that say you discover the rogan show for the first time, you are probably able to watch year old episodes with guests you are curious about.
If you discover the budden podcast, you are probably not gonna watch old episodes of them talking about outdated news. You will just start from where you're at.
Either way i don't think views are worth that much UNLESS you leverage it into money. So unless joe rogan is sharing so ad money with them, i don't see how they make money off him. I guess they ran the numbers as far as future subs projections, ad money, opportunity to bring in other pods because of it, etc and the numbers probably made sense.
Budden refuses to shate ad money, refuses to share sponsor money, probably peaked as far as getting spotify new subs. How much is his high streams count worth to them? Why exactly would spotify sign him for a high amount a second time?
Now armed with analytics, he might be able to go to another dsp, show them how much he could grow their platform as far as pods, etc and then it would make sense.
I'm just saying shyt though. I have no idea what these people's contracts actually say or how much they make.
that makes perfect sense and I agree, but it doesnt take away the fact the company wont match your numbers and growth.
If you dont think older episodes would garnish views the same way Rogans pod would (which I agree with) then why would you want the rights to the podcast

wouldnt that make it easier for the publishing to fall into Joe's lap? The money, the stakes, the players, the company isnt the focus... people keep flip flopping on those variables. The point is the company wanting it one way or another which doesn't benefit anyone, not even itself. How can you not want the old shows, but also want the old shows?

But want the artist to do numbers, but dont want to show the artist the numbers

Variables threw everyone off, its not about the joke numbers thrown out for pay or equality. Its about looking at the numbers you put up and getting paid based off of those numbers

If you're gonna jerk someone do it one way or another not every single way possible. Like short my dough, but give me rights.... or take my rights but give me the dough I deserve. What the fukk kind of deal is hiding numbers from me and then trying to own hundreds of my pods when you do nothing? What the fukk are you really offering me at that point... that's not a business thats white people bullshyt. Spotify should fold if they think that's good business, they literally bring nothing to the music or culture. Tidal is garbage for being for the artist but not doing shyt for artists besides showing Kanye's fashion shows.
If people run back to the stay independent view, that skips the entire point of companies existing. No black person is going to own and operate a streaming service ever

Is there a time where companies will be boycotted and shut down, based off of lying and embezzling the artists money? The double standard is crazy...I only type this much because I cant believe it. When 50 cent grabs 100 million from coca cola... its genius but when someone else tries to grab a fair deal and the company says "We cant treat you fairly or pay you how you should be paid" people side with the company?

a self sustaining streaming service at that who will never fall because they get paid off of 100's of millions of streams each day on audio they've never produced one second of?
