had android for like 5-6 years
had the evo 4g, samsung gs2, nexus 5, htc one x, one x +, one plus one
all these shyts have fukked up on me one way or the other.

It's got bunch of different features that aren't really available with plain SMS/MMS messages, but it also blends with them pretty seamlessly if whoever you're messaging doesn't have an iPhone. And if you happen to be on a plan that doesn't have unlimited texting, messages sent/received via iMessage come through your cellular/WiFi connection, so they don't count as a text message. I actually cheaped out on my text message plan for a few years for exactly this reason
There's also some pretty nice group messaging features that were added for iOS 8.
Besides all the features, it's pretty seamless. Just flip a switch and it'll automatically link with your phone number. Hangouts on Android is similar, but doesn't have that same seamlessness to it.
