Think about buying a house. How do they say what it should be listed at? How do you get a loan originator to agree to give you a loan for the sellers desired asking price? They BOTH do their own comps of compatible houses with similar attributes in the same area to find a common ground. That's all sports contracts are; market value assets that are paid according to supply and demand. It only takes one house (or player) in a neighborhood (or sport) to drive up the prices for the rest of the them.

I wish more people got this concept.

there is a great column on grantland breaking down why dalton isn't elite. Bengals and dalton stans, go read it

There isn't a single person on the planet who thinks Dalton is elite. He's not getting paid like an elite player, though. Folk really need to look at the contracts before spouting garbage. Don't just look at the total figure. Look at the structure of the deal and the guaranteed money.

Stop with the cliche garbage. Of course I watch the games which is why I'm intelligent to know it takes the entire TEAM to win a game. The QB hasn't done his part in the playoffs, but neither has the whole TEAM so to place blame on one guy, is silly. Especially a young guy learning the position. Dude wasn't the 1st overall pick. He was a 2nd rounder who has EXCEEDED expectations. Have some perspective. What did the last QB in Cincy do? Is there a Dalton replacement on the team or in free agency?

80 million guaranteed :mjlol: the general consensus is that this is a horrible, cap crippling contract.. Why u caping so hard for this archie Andrews cac

Didnt see the reason to lock him up this year....he hasn't been good playing under pressure and has absolutely sucked ass in January.

Hue's going to run the ball a lot more so maybe they'll ask him to do less...idk

There is a reason that teams fall off or never succeed in the first place...it's called bad decisions. :heh: I don't think anyone is mad at Dalton for getting the money or failing to understand why he was given the money. The issue is the impact of him getting his money on the Bengals. The pressure is on him to show and prove. No more excuses or pleas.

Did the Bengals not do exactly that with Carson?
Yeah. You don't watch football.!

Maybe they'll ask him to do less? Thats all they've been talking about the whole offseason. Which I keep trying to tell nikkas but this place is like a barbershop where the loudest motherfukker thinks they won the argument.

Breh. You don't have a QB like Dalton and have him throw 35 times a game. That's how you fukk UP young QBs, especially ones like Andy who are somewhat limited in the first place. Hue Jackson realizes this. Jay Gruden doesn't and he was calling plays like it's fukking Madden. There was no balance.

The "hes not worth $X" argument gets clouded by many...market value is just that...value to the market...and value to the buyer.
the other funny aspect about what commonly goes on in here - cats stay mad about how rich the owners are and always root for players to get their money. But whenever a deal gets done there's a thread clowning whichever team just paid their player good money.

Yeah. You don't watch football.!

Feel free to enlighten me and show me where I went wrong.

Let's see here:

Bad decisions doom teams. Not sure what the argument against that is.

Bengals got rid of Carson and picked up Dalton in the 2nd round and experienced more success in his first 3 years than Carson did in his life. Not sure what the argument against that is.
