80 million guaranteed :mjlol: the general consensus is that this is a horrible, cap crippling contract.. Why u caping so hard for this archie Andrews cac

Who the fukk said it was 80 million guaranteed?

You clearly have no clue what the general consensus is.......unless you take your consensus from the idiots on the coli.

If you do then I don't value your opinion anyway.

people must be so used to dikkriding qb position they dont realize how ridiculous it would sound when translated to business world

Im paying senior manager 200k to oversee an engineering project which pays engineers 85k...if project bombs, guess who finna get the blame ?
now if Im paying senior manager the same goddamn 85k to engineers and senior manager I wont blame the manager.

its simple common logic that is lost on people still thinking qb is a irreplaceable position and they should be thanking gods and gms for their average/slightly above average qb

Feel free to enlighten me and show me where I went wrong.

Let's see here:

Bad decisions doom teams. Not sure what the argument against that is.

Bengals got rid of Carson and picked up Dalton in the 2nd round and experienced more success in his first 3 years than Carson did in his life. Not sure what the argument against that is.
The Bengals didn't get rid of Carson. Carson forced his way out of Cincy by saying he'd never play for the team again. It was kinda a big deal in a LOL look at them Bungles sort of way. You'd probably remember if you were watching football then.

folks talkin that 'andy TOOK them to playoffs 3 years in the row' no he didnt

people forget WHY the bengals became better.

in 2009 they lost only 6 games with palmer.

then they won 4 games the year after and went to rebuild mode with stellar success

were able to give away overrated, average qb for a kings ransom of draft picks (THATS how its done)
draft geno atkins, gresham, dunlap in 2010
then aj green, dalton (young unproven qb) and

they gave away their starting qb and drafted a young one not asking stupid questions of oh whaaat would we do without our average ass qb

they couldve held onto palmer, have a proverbial bird in the hand and not do shyt. but they didnt back then and thats why theyre a good team now.
Held onto Palmer?

REVISIONIST fukkING HISTORY

Carson forced his way off the fukking team. He wanted nothing more to do with it. Mike Brown loved Carson. He would have never let his ass go. If anything we owe Carson a thanks :pachaha:

Gotta see that guarantee money though. Dalton about a 12-15 million type of dude. He';s young, gots a good team around him and has steadily improve through out the seasons.

you cant have it both ways tho

either you say qb is the most important position on the team, thus getting the most money is justified, but ALSO hold them accountable

OR

you say qb is as important as any other position, thus getting most money is NOT justified, and hold the team accountable

but you wanna say its OK to pay the QB mad money just because everyone else is doing it
and then hold them non accountable, therefore basically admitting the inflated value they actually provide to the team

it doesnt make ANY logical or common sense

if you put qb position on pedestal and pray to it, hold it accountable as well
otherwise its not only intellectually dishonest, its plain dumb logic

Everyone should be accountable for their own play. Regardless of contracts, if you have a shyt day, I'm not going to blame you for a RB fumbling the ball.

Is Carson still there? :wtf: How the fukk did they not get rid of him...because he wanted to go? :dead: They still got rid of him and it worked out pretty well for them. You'd think of all teams they would have learned from that experience.

Palmer forced his way off the team because he thought Mike Brown was a nitwit.

oh ok, I see. so theres no correspondence between a contract and accountability, gotcha
I can pay you 5m a year for managing my flagship project and hold you as responsible as the 40k intern, gotcha

On the other hand, @triplehate is right that QBs rarely get cut so if Dalton maintains his current playoffs plateau with a win or two there, he could well see 60+ million in cold cash for mediocrity and fukkkery.

Lets just separate his playoff performance from his contract for a minute.

There is a reason agents and the players unions in every sport wants their players to 'set the market' for everyone else, it's called a comp. Basic of supply and demand. If your agent can paint a picture of you that shows that your similar to another player, and that player got X, a team cannot just go and say 'well that's an overpay, we don't believe the market for that caliber player is that' without a back up plan which in football only consists of younger players who are paid on a rookie scale.

If they don't have that, and they, say, go on the open market looking for one......how, exactly are they going to find a BETTER QB, for less money than the one they let go???

Simply put, they can't. Dalton is only option for the Bengals right now regardless of pay scale. If he were a back up, he'd be the best back up QB and if the Bengals steered away from signing him, they'd just end up with a worse back up. So the market dictates that Dalton has to get paid. That doesn't mean you have to like it, but he does have to sign a contract. There just aren't any viable alternatives outside of trade.

The whole "6-year-115-million-dollar-contract" label is just lip service until we see the contract details. Pending the yearly guarantee isn't too high and the cap hit is set to an above average QB level, I think this is a good deal for the Bengals. Dalton needs to get over his hump and if he does, that's a SB appearance.
Real shyt. I mean dude has won big time regular season games. He's had 10 4th quarter winning drives. He beat the Steelers with his arm 2 yrs ago in a winner goes to the playoffs, loser stays home scenario.

People speaking the loudest on him are the people that don't watch the team regularly. It's essentially like hearing Stephen A try to talk about the NFL. These nikkas don't know shyt.
