In no world is Lionel Messi a better athlete then Dieon Sanders.

In no universe is Cristiano Ronaldo a better athlete then Wilt Chamberlin
I was being polite even agreeing to rank soccer players #2

Go cry about it :heh:

I didn't even say Soccer was the best (Boxing is) but it's you clear you failed/didn't make the soccer team as a kid :mjlol:. Soccer players are definitely top tier athletes.

On KRS One's nose, eating sunflower seeds.
Would only be the Decathletes/Heptathletes as it covers everything athletically.

1500m is a hard enough event on its own. Now imagine a 6'3+ 190lbs+ athlete over 2 days has already sprinted (×3) thrown (×9) and jumped (×9) the throwing and jumping event have 3 attempts per discipline. Then run a sub 4:30 min 1500m.
Breh, I tried to run a 400m sprint and I couldn’t even finish, and I’m an avid jogger.

Boxing
TAF

my first instinct is to say boxing but im probably biased because i did it (very badly) when i was younger
Anybody who has tried boxing knows it’s the most horrible experience of all time. Your body is screaming at you to fight or flight, which automatically drenching you with adrenaline which only lasts a moment then you are fukking exhausted all the while someone is punching you in the chest. There are no breaks as any lapse in concentration you are getting punished. Mentally and physically the worst thing you could do outside of marathons and shyt.

MMA fighters are crazy athletic too. UFC isn’t a great representation of what these guys can do. Go to any MMA gym and the shyt those guys can do are straight out of kung fu films.

YOU SOUND STUPID.

IVE BEEN WATCHING TENNIS
SINCE 96

"The WSJ timed the action in a recent Andy Murray match and found that there was only 26 minutes of play in a match that lasted two hours, 41 minutes. That's 16.4% of the match"

Keep googling verify nonsense when you obviously don't watch, which furthers my point that you're the stupid one

I watch Football from time to time, I only watch the AFC/NFC championship games and the Superbowl. But if someone asks me if I watch Football, I will say "no I don't watch football, I'm a casual"

That is what you are. It's ok to say those words, YOU DON'T WATCH TENNIS. You made a stupid comment, and I let you know it was an ignorant statement. Get over it

This is like saying a ferrari is better than a Humvee. Or a mathematician is smarter than a linguist

Athleticism can't be removed from context.

All the examples in this thread consists of examples of nuanced mastery that cannot be cleanly transferred to other fields

If we want to know who are the best athletes the only way to do that is to remove everything from their specializations and test them purely on athleticism which is speed, strength, agility, jumping, and hand eye coordination.

Get a bunch of pros from the NBA, MLB, Tennis, boxing/MMA, etc and test them.

I guarantee that NFL players are going to smoke everyone because they combine all athletic traits while being far stronger than everyone else.

Saquon will squat 600 lbs, bench 225 for 29 reps, run a 4.4 40, have a 41 inch vertical, then step on the field and do this:
saquon-saquon-barkley.gif

NFL has the best athletes hands down and it's stupid to argue otherwise.

This approach unwittingly supports the white supremacist/western stupidity that separates the mind body connection synergy

That Saquon example was just as much a mental achievement(if not more) than a physical one ... just like a vince carter dunk is a mental achievement as well... these acts are just as much mind as body

Why is Roddikk using endurance as determining the best athlete? Wouldn't that make Ironman triathletes the best athletes, then?

He is using it for the same reason that people use soccer. They want to justify the endurance levels of their sports. Meanwhile those same people ignore distance runners, who run 26 miles in a little more than 2 hours. Atheletes that run competitive distance events would have to be the best cardio conditioned athletes by those folks own definition. Tennis players get breaks between their sets and they bicker and argue the whole time, so they get breaks all match long. Soccer players get a half time break and with all of their fake injuries they conjure up during their games, they have stoppages in play the whole match. Meanwhile competitive distance runners just keep on trucking in their events. So the claims are bogus.

There is a difference between cardio conditioning and strength conditioning. Some sports require both. Those would clearly be the best athletes.

Take them out of their cars and what they can they do as athletes?

Y'all keep mentioning these highly specialized sports where the human body is doing less athletic tasks.

A tennis player, boxer/mixed martial artist, or driver is in no way on the same tier as a Deion Sanders or Michael Jordan. Several NFL players played NCAA basketball. Guys like Kyler and Russ were drafted by the MLB. Jameis Winston and Mahomes were pitchers. There's guys in the NFL who ran track at a high level and damn near have Olympic speed. Tyreek Hill was clocked over 23 MPH on the field. That's an athlete.

Show me the tennis players who can step on a football field, baseball diamond, or basketball court.
This was too much
