Pujols is my favorite. Best first baseman ever is Lou Gehrig

And facts, contract was stupid from the gate. Never sign a player for his 32 and older years. You asking for trouble.
My bad I read that wrong thought you meant 2nd favorite player. All time great, first ballot HOFer hate to see him go out like this :mjcry:

Should’ve let him retire as an Angel, they save absolutely $0 dollars by doing this. Maybe sit him and come in as a pinch hitter the rest of the way to let him go out gracefully and the few fans in attendance to pay their respect. Hopefully he signs with the Cardinals and let’s the fans shower him with love for all he’s done for the game.

Detroit will be doing the same shyt with Miguel Cabrera soon.

It's always sad seeing greats a shell of what they once were

edit :damn: I didn't know it was this bad

Cautionary example how these 10-13 year mega contracts usually end

next mlb cba should cap contract length 10 years max if you’re under 30, 4 or 5 years if you’re over 30

The players will just fight for earlier free agency.

We’re gonna lose a year of baseball over this

I'm sure the cards will pick him up on the cheap since he's been released. They should be able to get him for league minimum. I'm sure the cards would be happy to let him pinch hit, spot start and eventually retire as a card

Not even top 10.

Was never the consensus best player in the game, at best average infielder and dropped off a cliff the past decade in production.
Pujols was 100 % consensus the best player after Bonds retired lol. From about 06-2010 he was unquestionable the best player, lead the NL in WAR 5 straight seasons, should have 5 MVPs. Based of WAR7, (which a player's peak 7 years), he's a top 14 position player ever. Only Trout, and Bonds and arguably A-Rod in the last 60 years have been better.

as a cards fan, I hope we don't. I could see the White Sox doing it because LaRussa is stupid

I'm confused because I'm also reading that he's been designated for assignment. Are they doing that with intentions to release him?

If so, I hope he finishes out with the Cards
