But what about the Portuguese ?They get to stay eh![]()
You giving them too much grace they had something like 300k Portuguese living there at one point.Angola is like the former Portuguese colony that’s given them the most hell out of any of them. In fact, Portugal has favorable trade deals and immigrations laws with most of them, but not with Angola. For example, it is easier for a Cape Verdean or Guinean to migrate to Portugal and naturalize than it is for an Angolan. Some years back their relationship made news cause Angola went collecting on some debt Portugal couldn’t pay and the headlines were along the lines of “former colony bullying European XYZ”
The thing is, by nature of being an ex-Portuguese colony, there will be a lot of cacs/portuguese folks born in Angola/that have/hold Angolan nationality. You can’t just kick people out willy nilly - even this story about evicting Chinese nationals is likely omitting a lot of details/caveats
And of course western countries and government still enjoy an exploitative relationship with African countries, but the relationship is nowhere near what you’re implying in your post

This is also true, with Portugal’s declining status and frail economy - a lot of Portuguese cacs migrated to Angola. One of the articles I mentioned and read regarding the change in dynamic between Angola and Portugal did broach this
thats outdated info and eventually angola went into debt (due to fraud and corruption) and had to get bailed out by portugal.
I actually asked myself this very question when I seen it. Angola is literally turning in Brazil and Cape Verde with the Portuguese running trying to control shyt. Some of their national teams like their swimming teams aren’t even black at all. Just straight up white ppl or biracialsBut what about the Portuguese ?They get to stay eh![]()
The information and articles I’m operating under are all from around 2015 onwards. I know this because I it was from a discussion in Higher Learning:

There’s even oil investments made by Angola into Portugal that predate those.
I have no information about Angola being bailed out by Portugal. I don’t even know how that would be possible with the amount of debt Portugal has (some to Angola in fact) and the EU stimulus Portugal has received and has pleaded for. Portugal’s declining/frail economy is even what precipitated many cacs migrating to Angola in search of opportunities. Please provide your sources
yes 2015 was a decade ago when angola was riding high off great oil prices and they could throw money around in places like portugal
then oil prices dropped and stopped all that: https://www.wsj.com/articles/angola-to-seek-imf-aid-to-cope-with-looming-financial-crisis-1459957868?gaa_at=eafs&gaa_n=ASWzDAi7ONqNtQKkwH3RVpE2KkWMcV5Y4wz_XoFEUNy7obNFSlwWyJaAKtLSPhNX-Go=&gaa_ts=6891e6f4&gaa_sig=leXcWJgw1SKIru3DOVSTSJawkAE4idrlcK3XrJGGiyDB-XpVyS8BkTtC0C8F8WMFgZS_OsziVZeECU3JQJUXag==
now portugal (along with china and the imf) are back to giving angola lifelines in the form of debt/credit
