Doesn't matter, most of the popular audience didn't know the character existed until Cap America: Civil War or the BP movie. To a lot of people Chad is BP like Downey is tied to Ironman despite the character being around since 1963

Now personally, I'm firmly in the recast BP team, but Disney is too scared of backlash. That's why they ultimately let Coogler decide whether to recast or not because if there was ever any backlash, they could just point to Coogler to blame.
