To be fair, they marry those within their circles. It's a case of proximity than anything else. This was the case with a lot of women in med school where many people met or were married. Guys are generally not going across town looking for a woman who works in the same field as them or because they have a certain educational qualification, even more so when often times, the professional qualifications these women carry are not rare and plenty of women have them in the first place.

As for the manosphere, it is born out of a level of frustration in trying to either force something that they should be looking for alternatives to (a lot of these dudes would be happier dating out if only because it would allow them to not treat p*ssy with such urgency) and issues within the community (this is unfortunate and understandable but they need to realize that they'd be happier living their own lives and working on themselves).

Your proximity is directly tied to your socio-economic level though. If you're a doctor you work with fellow doctors, administrators, and specialists who are in your economic bracket. You live in a neighborhood full of people who make similar incomes; maybe your neighbor isn't a doctor, but he/she is a lawyer for instance. And as you said, you went to college with people who are now in your same economic bracket. This doesn't mean that a doctor can't run into a grade school teacher, fall in love and start dating her despite making 2-3 times more than her. But on average, the doctor dates and marries a fellow doctor, or lawyer, or engineer, or banker etc.

This is ironically why there's a perception that black men pursue overweight white women. Black men and overweight white women often intersect in terms of socio economic status. They make somewhat similar money, live in similar areas, and thus run into each other.

There's a lot of truth to that. The issue is, with the school teacher for example, how often one is exposed to a school teacher as a doctor is less than how often one is exposed to another professional in a less formal setting. Also, often what is lost, and the manosphere community was actually right about, is that many of the professional couples meet earlier on, while both parties are in school, be it undergrad or grad level. This often gets overlooked.
