That doesn't mean they seek the highest earning doctor over another. We're talking median ranges of income within that socio economic group. Nowhere did I say personality didn't matter. In fact earlier I mentioned that if the income is the basic entry point for considering to date someone, the focus then is on attraction/personality/common interests/etc.

I work in finance/business and am dating someone who works for the same company, different department. Virtually every six figure earning person here is dating or married to someone with similar income levels. The high up managers are married to attorneys and pediatricians. This is anecdotal but mirrors what most studies on high income dating and marriage show.

Because of proximity. They attend the same schools, events, conferences, and so on. They all get invited to many of the same things. Women who work in these fields do focus on income and if there is a mixer thrown, they will try and get men of similar income and level to attend. I've gotten those invites and attended those parties. It's not as major of a deal as some make it out to be. If a woman were to lead in with her income when meeting guys like this, they'll look at her funny. It's nice but not the most major thing.
