Can someone explain to me what has changed during the last five Presidencies?
Have gun laws become lax?
What laws have been changed during Obama's tenure that has resulted in such a large spike?

Media coverage leads to copy cats. The spike started under Bush, which was shortly after Columbine.

There's also more guns than ever and people know how easy they are to attain.

You're on the liberal extreme of the gun debate; what laws, in your opinion, were changed that have led to this massive spike?

1. The media coverage was big then and copy cats were before Obama.
2. Ummm guns are more restricted than ever.

There are now more guns than people in the United States

There's more guns in the U.S. than people. Eventually people will start using them on one another.

Columbine was the first "big" mass shooting since it involved a suburban school. We've had more and more since then and I see no reason why it would slow down anytime soon.

What are your thoughts/explanations for it?

1. More Guns doesn't mean things aren't restricted
2. Eventually is a myth, that's a liberal wet dream
3. There were big mass shootings before Columbine. Maybe in a school. We had less shootings after Columbine. Look at the stats.

So more guns than people means they're restricted? #thekingsmen

More guns doesn't really mean anything. There aren't personal limits on the number of weapons one person can have. One person can be hoarding a few hundred guns thus raising the per capita rates of ownership.

maths?

I think the media is fueling the fire for copy cats. I think the internet has created an avenue that sick and twisted minds can be reinforced by others sharing their sickness. I think the inequality gap in this country is coming to fruition where the less fortunate are subjugated to lose their minds in their quest to gain equality on the economic scale.

The rates of violence have plummeted in this country in the past few decades. Gun violence has followed that downward trend. The media is overhyping these events to form a narrative. Our gun violence rates are near all-time lows but the media will make you think its a big deal.

Now, mass shootings are a big deal and have to be dealt with. I think the best way to do it is by placing armed police inside of each school. We protect businessmen, politicians, and other "valuable" people with guns, so why not protect our precious snowflakes in school the same way? I don't think we need to arm teachers or anything, but having one or two police officers stationed at the school would be a great deterrent and will provide a quicker response in case of a shooting.
