This is the ENTIRE purpose for handguns. When you get mad you have the ability to easily merc someone. The people who advocate guns are screaming at the top if their lungs that they want everyone to have the 'right' to be able ro kill those that 'deserve' it (what qualifies? Ask your local NRA wingnut. Many of then think being black means you deserve it).
So why we act all incredulous. If tigers were widely available, seen as cool/sacred, and any fool could own one: you'd see a lot more people getting mauled. Imagine a world where tiger advocates would suggest all kinds of solutions except banning tigers. "If you try to take our tigers we are going to set them all loose on you. It's going to be a tiger war." Sounds crazy right...
