Ravens get something for Boldin when they were gonna cut him anyway, plus they wipe that $6M off their salary cap.

Niners basically spent a 6th rounder to ensure that they wouldn't have to bid with every other team for Boldin once he was cut. Downside is, they might have been able to sign him for cheaper, doubt he would have got $6M on the open market. But whatever, they got the cut they wanted so it's worth it.

His route running, body positioning, and ball skills have always been elite status.
