Lost to the Giants... signs Manningham and Jacobs so the Giants don't have them

Now they lost to the Ravens as well as Seahags trading for Harvin, they go trade for one of the Ravens' aging receiver ... for what? just to make a splash to say they did?

Why aren't they making room for AJ to start?

Mario was signed to fill an obvious need. We didn't want to overpay Josh Morgan and he gave us very similar production at a much cheaper price.

Brandon Jacobs was a bad signing, but dude was basically making veteran minimum and his deal was filled with incentives. You act like he got a huge contract.

I'm glad they pulled the trigger here because a) Got to make bold moves while the window for a SB is still there, we won't be able to keep this many stars together for long b) WR depth has been a huge hole for this team for years and it hurt us in the SB and in the NFC Championship the year before that.

smh at all the casual football fans in here saying the Ravens are dumb or why didn't (insert team here) trade for him?!

You realize the Niners are gonna have to pay Boldin $6M this season? You realize that the Ravens aren't dumb, I'm sure they asked around and no one else was interested in doing that, so instead of just cutting him, they got what they could.

If ANY other team was interested, why wouldn't the Ravens trade him to that team even if it was just for an earlier 6th round pick rather than getting the 2nd to last pick in the round like they got?

It's not about the 6th rounder, of course teams would give that up for Boldin. No other team was willing to pay him the $6M this season. Niners happen to be in win-now mode and had money to blow, so it makes sense for them.

so the cap conscientious Niners are willing to take on 6 million in salary for depth at WR?

seems reactionary to me

Boldin has maybe 2 seasons left in him... Welker has at least 3

What does that have to do with my original comment? The Ravens traded him because they did not want to pay him. Why would they want to pay Welker then?
