How about the league stops trying to find a new face and focus on propping up the teams? Bring back the rivalry between teams.
I still have never heard the NBA say this.

It’s mostly fans that talk about it like it’s the main objective of Silver. The face of the league is often a player that’s a lot better than his peers that people love to watch. This is not something the NBA can create

He's a star but that's as far as it goes for him imo. He'll even have superstar moments, but I don't think he's beloved enough to be liked like that. 3-4 years in and already dismissing the all star game. Wild post game interviews and comments and his new Sprite commercial with Kevin Garnett is weird and awkward asf. In it Garnett is telling him to avoid all the pitfalls of super-stardom, but in real life it looks like Edwards fully embraces the off court f*ckery.

Tatum on court game isn’t exciting enough. I personally think he’s a great player & an even better person from what we know.

But facts are he isn’t super athletic or fast. He isn’t a sniper either. The league has done a lot to make him the face & fans just haven’t accepted him
Facts, he's kinda like Tim Duncan as a small forward. He can shoot and play good fundamental basketball but his game is :russell:

He doesnt have the "IT" factor.

maybe cuz its his generic name.
or his country ass accent
or the fact he says "nikka" every other word.

Dude doesnt have that cross over appeal like a Steph, Kobe, Jordan, Iverson, LeBron, KD, etc.

There’s just something weird to all this.

I can’t imagine players back during the 80’s NOT wanting to be the face of the league. However, I can completely understand today why Ant wouldn’t want to be.

I think in some ways it’s because the NBA really don’t want their players to be who they are. If you take on that role, then you must be “professional” role model material.

I said it before, but a big difference between the NFL and NBA is that the NFL doesn’t try to act like their best players and role models aren’t some squeaky clean people. I think that’s partly due to the NBA having so many kids as fans while the NFL is more for grown ups and mature audiences.
