Now? They’ve always gone after Democrats. They’re not partisan. It’s just dumb ass MAGA propagandists that tried to paint them as Democrats.
been like this since the beginning. another reason why conservatives conflating “antifa” with democratic policies and politicians was so stupid
One of the issues is that many of these people are simply anarchists who only grabbed the Antifa branding when it became a hot thing in response to Trump. Anarchists have been rioting in Portland for decades and they've never been politically partisan. They've only done harm to any cause they've tried to jump onto (BLM, anti-Trump, anti-ICE, etc.), which is in part by design.
Absolutely. The problem is, they define "fascist" as "bad person in power who does things I don't like."
Some of them do, I’m sure. But they’ve never been pro-Democrat and have no ties to the Democratic Party. They’re antifascist, but they’re also fukk the system. They’re anti-capitalism and many are anarchists and anti-state period. Not sure why anyone would link them to Democrats unless they’ve been watching Sean Hannity clips all day or something.
This strategy is so stupid if Antifa is really behind it. Why not organize massive peaceful protests to move the admin more progressive? Vandalizing DNC buildings does nothing to encourage the Biden admin to adopt a more progressive platform. It only discredits them.
Or fascist-adjacent. Anarchists are anti-fascist and neoliberal political parties have allowed the entrance of fascists every single time it happened in the 20th century. Hello to Britain, Italy, Germany, Spain, and the U.S. pre-WW2. All anarchists are anti-fascist. It's inherent in the ideology. Anti-capitalism and anti-statism are the antitheses of fascism, since fascism is inherently a pro-capitalist and pro-state-repressive ideology. They have neither helped nor harmed BLM, anti-Trump, and anti-ICE measures. I've been attending them since around 2011, and the idea that antifascists caused robust issues is openly nonsense; police violence preceded any antifascist action with Black Lives Matter in 2014, Occupy Wall Street in 2011, the original anti-DHS actions, and the anti-ICE actions. My vantage point was being there, as well as working with journalists who were on the ground there as well. Are you getting this from your deep interactions with anti-fascists and anarchists, or Twitter interactions and MSNBC/Fox? Serious question: not being "snarky." This.
If you're over the age of 20, you've lived through at least 4 waves of pretty massive "peaceful protest" that has resulted in no state action to amplify what the angry citizens have asked for. Moreso than that, antifascism and antifascists aren't a cognizable group, they're a mixture of general progressives, socialists, communists, anarchists, radical unionists, etc. If you honestly think marching around alone will bring about any significant change, or that organizing large groups alone will bring that about, I can give you a list of actions nationwide since 2000 that perhaps may force you to change your thesis.
I misread the post I was responding to. I was actually referring to Rethugs/conservatives who accuse Democrats of "fascism" when they implement left-leaning policies.
I mean, yeah. They been doing this. Antifa, and the anarchists who joined antifia, been going at fascists and those that enable them. They have never been partisan.
