seems like you're a binge drinker more than anything

I always thought a binge drinker who suffer consequences from drinking but continues to binge means you're and addict. Such a personal term to declare on self I guess. By the book terms it's all about dependency, withdrawal, and tolerance.

I stopped using drugs and alcohol for 3 years (wouldn't even use an Aleve, energy drink, or allergy meds), didn't think I was an addict. Just wanted more focus, better sleep, and better health; and that was my motivation.

Until I relapsed, and life got terrible for 2 years and I lost a lot of things. Now I know what I am. 11 months clean today from everything but cigarettes. I have no other addictions. Glad i don't do retail or sex.

I can relate to both of these. I can go days without drinking, but when I do it's over. I don't know if it's an addiction though.

When you feel like you absolutely need a drink as oppose to wanting one then that's when you can say it's an addiction.

In my case having addicts in the family and developing hypocondria thanks to the mom person I've learn to be attentive and conscious of my drinking. I always tell myself I'm in control when ever I go drinking or crack a tall open.
