I’m probably dealing with my worst bout these last 2 weeks…I cannot sleep for more than 2 hours at a time…once at night (2-4AM and then usually 4-6PM in the afternoon)…this probably the most fukked up my sleep has been smmfh
Last month I was waking up no matter what after 2-3 hrs. I was getting decent sleep again, but now the past 5 days I’ve been having trouble sleeping again. I’ve been on a nightshirt schedule, so I’ve been going to bed anywhere from 7-10 am. It was ok for a while, but as of late, nothing has been really helping. Any suggestions? Especially as it pertains to nightshift schedule?
Happens to me all the time. These are some of the things I have to do to get back on schedule.
1. have a consistent time you go to sleep
2. exercise every day
3. no caffeine late
4. no snacking late
5. no screen time (computer or tv) for at least an hour before bed. Chill with a book or music or something else relaxing
6. don't lie down in bed until you're going to sleep. Use the bed for sleep and nothing else.
If none of that works, then your issue is probably stress. Figure out what's stressing you in life and either try to reduce it or start dealing with it so it doesn't stress you anymore.
If it's a particularly bad night my wife will help but that's only a temporary solution that don't address the root issue.

Folks, if u can avoid night shift, do so. It fuccked up my sleep pattern to the point where I can’t sleep at night without the aid of pills such as benedryl/advil pm. I know it’s not healthy but U can only toss and turn for a finite number of nights before u say fucck this.
melatonin can work but the feeling I get from waking from it is not pleasant. I wake from benedryl/advil pm feeling refreshed, rejuvenated. Melatonin and similar pills make u feel lethargic.

I worked nights for about 6 years straight. But I have been done with nights for over a decade now. Notwithstanding, I’m still affected by the damage it did to my sleep patterns.
think about that.
Over a decade of working days and still having to deal the damage done from those 6 years. Im certain it affected my hairline as well.
so if u can avoid nights, you really should avoid it. Don’t be tempted by that extra differential payment they use to entice u. It’s not worth it unlesss the money we’re talking about here is life changing. Even then, do it for a short period then bounce.
