Thinking of finishing up undergrad at UT Austin but I'm looking at these black male stats and they ain't strong.

Anyone attend UT Austin? Stories, experiences?

Any 'cism, how was the community?

On the same topic, anyone who attended any PWI is welcome to provide input. What was the experience like, how were you treated?

It's been my experience that folks go out of their way to make sure the ride is smooth. White folks been almost too nice about this schooling thing.

Any thoughts?

Me and @dtownreppin214 went to UT Austin

There's probably a few more on here.

I never had any issues, but I didn't really deal with many white people outside of class.

I went there for 2 years. Just transferred back to GSU to save money.

I miss it breh :to::to::to:

I loved the place but it comes with its fair share cism. Hella Asians and White peoples. Took me a while find and connect with the black community on campus since I came down out of state knowing no one.

This city is fantastic. I wanna find a job there after I graduate and go to grad school up there

For two summers ( High school ) and one full semester I went to Fordham University ( Rose hill Campus). To be honest I didn't like the university too much. I didn't feel any comfort at all. :manny:

Good university BTW, There's a reason the media in NYC is known as the "Fordham mafia". But I just felt like I didn't belong. The black students didn't seem too happy either.

What are you studying? What is the school like, the social scene, that 'cism, girls, all that?

How are your graduate prospects looking?

Heard good things about the school, but it's all from white folk so, :yeshrug:
Studying: MIS/CIS

School: Parties all the time and you got 6th street where ALOT of people show up. Halloween the girls be showing out :whew:

School life is basically how you want it to go. Most black people you will see in one spot is during the Black Frat step shows or the Rec. Also getting to know the Frat peoples will get you into shyt without all the BYOB or Bring 2 girls for every guy type shyt.

Austin also has SXSW and other shyt. Spring Break all the hoes hit South Padre. Austin is a college city basically. Always got things to do for the most part.

Racism: It may not be in your face but its there if you spend enough time on campus. I never experienced anything directly bc I just Went to class then went back to my Apartment and mostly chilled off campus. Is different for everyone.
Did have this party tho with a white Frat that looked like they was on some :mjpls:, probably only let us in cause my boy girls was in the sister Soro to their frat

They have all types of networking events on Campus People never use

Sit ins from companies where you can give them your resume, On Site Mock Interview, Resume Helpers, Recruiters. Also if you in the tech, Places Like GM and Dell are looking developers and Tech Support. Also USAA is right down the corner in SA(Good Company to work for) Intel is here.

This is just off the top off my head right now

Biggest problem I had with that school was finding a consistent pool of attractive black women. I might have just been spoiled at GSU but finding a bad black broad on campus was rare

If you werent in a Black Frat or cool with them it was struggle :mjcry:

Not to mention the baddest were always at the Frat parties so like I said before if you had no connections you was fukked:mjcry:

Good thing I knew someone on the basketball squad :smugbiden:

The main type of cism you're going to see is if you try to get into white frat parties in west campus. they'll give you the :stop: if you don't know somebody in the frat or if you're not an athlete. i used to get dragged on that side by my friends, eventually realized there's no reason to be over there. the social scene in austin is huge- there's a little bit for everybody. even tho it mainly caters to cacs, it's still an amazing college town.

i came from a majority black hs so i stuck with my kind. met a lot of cool brothers hooping, in the dorms (the majority of us are in Jester dormitory), on the frat/soro scene (parties/stepshows), texas relays, clubs like NSBE/ASA/BBSA. there is some prestige that comes with getting accepted to UT these days so I did get a sense that some black folks were stuck up. i've heard this sentiment from some of the local black folks i linked up with and the ones that went to HT (HBCU in Austin) and Texas State. but the good thing is all of the black folks are about their business here and leads to good connections down the road.
