Aint nothing wrong with black folks owing firearms but don't be out here doing it dirty, thats the reason why they made and make so many laws so it's harder for us to get legal access. Yeah you can put an AR together for under $500 especially during black friday sales.
Don't worry about street cred, nobody should even know what shyt you got, I've seen dudes showing off they weapons on IG and in person and all it tells me is they don't use it for real and they move reckless. You can get an AR chambered in 9mm btw.

I am thinking about an AR. Right now I have an AK-47 which is good and is generally more rugged though less accurate at long ranges. Quality 7.62mm ammo that won't fukk up your AK long term can get difficult to find sometimes though so the AR, especially that can fire .45 ammo, with a kit to change to 223 ammo.

Also use the 9mm or get a 38/375/45 handgun for home defense. Any long rifle is too goddamn unwieldy in that situation.

If your are worried about home defense get something in a pistol caliber.
