I've been trying to learn Italian for about 7 months now and it's been an on and off relationship. I get pretty good and then fall off because it's hard to keep my interest in these boring ass programs.

I've tried all the apps... Rosetta Stone, Duo Linguo (I use this now), Grindr, basically everything.

Anyone here successfully learned a new language? Tips and tricks?

My mom and dad speak it... along with a lot of other family. I also wanted to see if I could learn a new language

I HEAR THAT IT IS HARD TO STAY WITH IT UNLESS YOU HAVE PEOPLE AROUND YOU THAT SPEAK IT.

I JUST STARTED PORTUGUESE. IT IS A BIT HARDER THAN SPANISH TO ME.

I taught myself Spanish over the years, I'm not quite fluent but I can say everything I realistically need to. I started off in high school Spanish, then I practiced by talking talking to my coworkers in Spanish. My wife is Puerto Rican but her Spanish is pretty bad, so she's not much of a help with that.
