Do you guys think that I should try to take the exam and become licensed if I have no interest in working in public accounting?
I have a Bachelor's and Master's in accounting (graduated last May), and currently work in financial planning in healthcare.
My original career goal before realizing the public might not be suited to me was to become a tax accountant. My state allows you to become licensed if you have at least one year of professional exp in accounting/finance.
No one around my job is a CPA except for the managers in accounting, and the CFO.

I would recommend if you're looking to rise to the level of CFO and are not sure you want to go back to school again to get an MBA. It's nice to have in your back pocket.

Did they switch up the CPA exam to make it harder now?

They changed a few of the exams, mainly adding more simulations and less MCQ's. That's what is supposed to make it "harder", but they say it's supposed to be substantially the same difficulty.

If you want to stay in financial planning, I wouldnt do any further schooling or take the CPA exam - theres no point
