Anyone here a firefighter? I got a few questions.
How was the hiring process? Written test, physical test, interviews, etc.
How’s your schedule and work to life balance?
How’s the job? Is it what you expected?
Good deeds firefighters
I have my EMT-Basic license, passed on the opportunity to go to the fire academy starting in July. Only catch is I Had to serve 2 years unpaid as a “firefighter trainee” until a roster spot opened up on this department. Might end up regretting it but I’m making ok bread in construction.
The process can take years For large cities, my cousin is on FDNY and it took him 8 years to get called up for the academy. I took a written test for Milwaukee FD, one of the most challenging exams I’ve took cuz you either know it or you don’t. Ended up passing, interview was very hard too so I’m still waiting on my results
It’s a lot of horseplay and downtime at some departments, dudes would play cards,nap, study for college after all our task were done for the day. You work 24 hours on 48 hours off
