Yeah just a few simple words/greetings is fine. A lot of folks will even switch to English to make you comfortable but only after you tried in French first

How was your trip?

It was dope fam. We went for the snow specifically. Went dog sledding, snow boarding ( Mont Tremblant) hit the city, ate French, Japanese, Haitian, Peruvian and more. Hit up a lot of dope bars, and a couple clubs. It was heavy snow though, but dope ass time.
