With the exception of Metroid (never played it as a kid), those were my exact same experiences and proudest moments. I still pop my sh*t to non-believers that I beat Contra with no code a gazillion times back in the day. Knocking out Tyson in the first round. Beating Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2. Beating TMNT multiple times. Etc.
My oldest brother just turned 50. We and my other brother would probably all say our fondest gaming memory together was this one Saturday we spent all day playing Bubble Bobble together, with our mom even taking an interest. Shyt, my favorite birthday present ever was getting a NES on my 8th birthday.
NES is synonymous with childhood, friendships, sibling connections, sleepovers, and beef everlasting from trading games that somehow end up like Raekwon's Killer tape, for an entire generation of us
