Used to go spend a week out in the woods with my cousins/friends annually every 2nd week of Feb. up until about 2 years ago when i moved away. shyt was a blast.

One year i took a big ass inflatable raft to go out on the lake and i was the only one man enough to get in that cold ass water. I let the raft drift me out into the middle of the lake and just laid back and chilled with some drinks and a fishing rod in my hand. After about 20 mins i felt a tug on my line, and started to reel it in until it stopped dead. I couldn't pull it anymore if my life depended on it, then the rod started to bend into the water. Next thing i know im actually being slowly pulled by whatever bit my line. Im using every ounce of my strength to hold onto the rod and screaming for my cousins who are now on the shore yelling for me to let go. My rod is almost completely submerged at this point but I spent damn good money on my rod so i wasn't letting go. After another couple minutes of me fighting this monster and being dragged around the lake i manage to get my knife to cut the line but right when im about to do it the rod gets freed. I reel it back up and the hook is still there but the bait is gone.

To this day im not sure of what it was but ive heard legends that there are apparently old ass catfish as big as as a small vehicle living down there in the muck. Needless to say i never went out on the lake again.

dont have any really cool stories that i can remember but it's fun! First thing you should do when you get there is set up tents because you may get lazy to do it when you're done with activities. Activities: start drinking early. sometimes bring fireworks or guns to shoot, throw a football or play racing games in the acres. I used to go camping at the beach when we didnt want to afford beach hotels but that is usually when it is hot af outside so the tent is kinda miserable. But those beach camping trips had some of the best memories to be honest, going to the beach at night is amazing.

Otherwise, hopefully, its at an area that has like a lake or river/stream, so you can do some water activities (rafting, fishing) or go for a hike, then chill out and build a fire. eat grilled food and smores. then watch the stars and the fire and drink and talk with whoever is still up. mostly its sitting around having a beer or a smoke so its best to go with good company and take some kids! Sometimes go to sleep in the car if I didn't feel like going in a tent. Modern tents are very accommodating but can get cold being on the ground if the weather is not right and you dont have a sleeping bag. Don't like it when the sun comes out it can get too hot so you wake up early.

Sometimes there might be a cabin but idk if you count that as camping. Thats basically just cooking out then chilling indoors.

I used to camp all the time when I was in boy scouts .

I broke a rib tubing down the Rio grande during a trip after I fell off my tube going over a small waterfall (which if I stayed on my tube would be ok) and smashing my side on a rock.

Also once woke up with a scopion in my tent once.

Trying to think of other interesting stories .

I’m not about that tent life. I like going up the country and staying for a weekend but I’m not trying to get Lyme disease and fight foxes.

Hunting and fishing camps are goat and I want to eventually invest in some that cater to black folks.

Fill out your FAFSA and take some spring courses
