Now I'm not a fancy big city lawyer, but it seems to me that you are not ready for the city if you have to ask

Depends on which city.

Say if you moved from the sticks to nyc, then it might be a shock.

I've grew up in the country and city, moved back to the country just because its cheaper. But I go to the city on the weekends and get my :eat: on.

if I moved to another country area it would be one that was somewhat bigger or real close to the city

Some people belong in big cities and some people dont. NYC is full of people from like Memphis and Clearwater FL so it wont be that much of a shock.

I grew up a country boy and I made the move to the big city myself.

One of the biggest shocks will be how long it takes you to get from Point A to Point B. It doesn't matter how you travel getting from one place to another is always a taxing experience. Moreso than it is in the country. If you take cabs, be prepared to pay through the nose. If you take mass transit, you'll be CONSTANTLY surrounded by people. If you drive, you will be ticketed and towed on at least one occasion per year. You may be the best at paying attention to signs and making sure you're in the right spot but eventually they will get that azz.

If you're a homophobe or were raised in a homophobic environment be advised that none of that flies in a city. Gays run sh!t. And yes, the moment you start behaving funny around them or are a little "weirded out" by their presence you will be spotted as a homophobe and that's not a good thing to be.

The news in big cities is pretty shocking. If you want to keep your sanity I advise you stay the hell away. You'll see some pretty horrific sh!t happening right around the corner from you. Very unsettling. Not only that, but the news in big cities is HELLA racist. The editorials, the crime reports, the comments sections, all highly racially charged.

Racism in a city is different from the country. In the country people will quickly get to know you as "THE Black guy." In the city you are looked at as "EVERY Black guy." If you move to a city that is known for it's Black population being fvcked up (Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, etc.) then be prepared to have that reality thrown in your face non-stop. The news, people on the street, and social media will be there to remind you about how fvcked up things are out there for Black people.

Not only that, but the disparities in law enforcement are made blatantly obvious in the city as well. DO NOT. I repeat, DO NOT find yourself in trouble with the police in the city. Should you find yourself in police custody be advised that the Police out here hold a special contempt for Blacks. In my city they stick cotton swabs in Black men's urethra upon being processed for county. None of that in the country.

Also, ethnicity is really important to people in big cities. Be mindful of that. "Turf" is real and when you're not on yours it will be made known to you.

I did. Grew up in a hick ass town for 18 years and then move to Miami 4 years ago. One of the biggest differences was the different kind of people you encounter in the big city. Where Im from, you were either a Cac, black, or Messican. Down here was my first time running into Jews, Muslims, Arabs, Indians etc. shyt had me :wtf: the first time I ran into a blonde hair, blue eyed lady who only spoke Spanish.
I don't think I could ever move back though, too many exotic ass bytches :ohlawd:
