You shouldn’t need a tool kit, the top pops right off
you do need one.

I ordered a tool kit off amazon to open it up, I'll update how it goes on Friday :patrice:

Hoping I can lower the fan noise :martin:
my boy did it for me. fan gets much quieter doing easy tasks like netflix but on high end games like cod warzone etc it still sounds like a jet engine

I opened my original ps4 up and cleaned out all the dust as well as reapply the thermal paste to everything that needed it. It was quiet for about a year after.

Traded it in for a pro, which sounded like a jet right outta the box.

:dahell: because dust can build up in it? I bought my ps4 off some dude off craigslist and its been loud as fuk since then (even when games aren't running), so I figured I'd drop the $15 to get the screwdrivers to open it up

I took off the top and sprayed it with a compressed air can. That should do it. :yeshrug:

UPDATE: I just opened it up and cleaned it. Used a compressed air to clean out the fan and power supply, there was a ton of dust. The fan is noticeably less loud now but it isn't completely silent by any means. I'd say it's about 60-75% as loud as it was before.
