The idea is that Ismails decedents settled the Arabian Peninsula. South of Palestine. Its more than likely true, hence the Prophet Muhammad having the same bloodline as Ismail, as are many other Arabs. But it doesn't matter if its true or false, as bloodlines hold no weight in Islam.

i get your point... but i dont think he was of the lineage of abraham. i dont believe in the OUT OF AFRICA theory.
i dont believe he was a descendant and abused the stories of ishmael and jesus to get his idea across.

he used ishmael and the fact that he claimed god spoke to him but yet he never mentioned premonitions like the other prophets had.
there is a reason why ISLAM spread, and trust it wasnt becuase the religion he created was from GOD.
it was his OWN spin on judaism and christianity.

BECAUSE he was living in a predominantly christian area at the time and they thought they were better than the jews who didnt believe in Jesus

I would disagree with your point about him being in mostly Christian areas, when Mecca and most of modern KSA worshipped idols pre-Islam. Islam is a continuation of the message of Moses and Jesus, hence having similar stories. And also why Moses, Jesus, Jews, and Christians are very respected in the Koran, and Islamic belief in general. Islam spreading for whatever reason and it being the true word of God can be debated on either side with no one having pure evidence of being right. But you have your opinion on it, its cool. And in the Hadith there are many premonitions he talked about with his companions. Many that appear today in modern times. One that stands out is when a companion asked him when the final days will come, he said only Allah knows the exact time, but the final day wont come until Bedouin tribes (people of the desert, not the city like the Prophet and his companions, basically the backwards country folk) compete against each other to build tall structures. And this is exactly what's happening now. The people in power in the ME in this day and age are the decedents of the Bedouins from the desert, and the UAE built the worlds tallest building, now you know who is making a building taller than theirs? KSA. There's many more, but you get the point.
