The only tip I can give is consider this practice, cause you are gonna fukk it up, and you gonna be in the chair while the barbers roast you.

Keep your haircut money right in front of you so you can correct your fukkup A.S.A.P.

Don't do it. A taper is a intermediate type of cut that even some professional barbers don't even get right. A lot of layers and blending is involved, and you do need an array of guards. If your still up to it, go ahead, but it won't look good, especially if you can't even line yourself up nice yet

I'd suggest not doing it and just going to the barber.
But if you really want to do it, get a 3-way mirror, and pay close attention to open and closed guards while you switch from a 2 to a 1.5 to a 1 to a 0.
And take your time

It's just hair man if you mess up go to the barber and get it fixed. The formula is pretty much the same, going from the bottom up you using no guard, a 1 guard open, and maybe a 2 guard. If you got a lower cut you might use a 0 open instead of a 1. This is a pretty good tutorial to watch he breaks it down step by step

About to line myself up for the first time, but am still not very comfortable on how to taper my sides and neck. :snoop:

I looked up several YT vids but they all use different guards and shyt so I'm not sure which ones to use. :beli:

Any tips and tips on cutting your own hair in general? :patrice:
Use a guard one higher then the one they do on YouTube, and if it's too thick then go down one. Ain't rocket science breh.

Just did my line up. Came out pretty decent for my first time. Left side was a tiny bytch higher than the right side but it's barely noticeable.:ehh: I touched it up and tried to even it up a few times but decided to leave it and not push my line back.

Didn't do the taper. I didn't want to do anything too reckless so I'll just leave that for later in the year when it's cold and I need to start wearing beanies outside. :bryan:

Gonna need to cop a straight edge razor and a bigger mirror though. The back and sideburns are a bytch to line up. Coordinating your hands with the mirror and keep it straight is tough as fukk, especially when I used my left hand. I just used a razor for that shyt. :bryan:
