Did anyone see DMX perform when his debut was out? that had to be crazy
:francis: I was, insanity, never really been into hip-hop clubs :mjpls: but X is my goat. Tunnel is every bit as crazy as you've heard. Guns, knives everything out in the open dudes would get stomped out and people would just keep dancing around them :bryan:

I don't have no super wild stories except that night that DMX performed seemed like everyone was extra drunk and high, I was walking around and some dude on his way out randomly gives me a half drank bottle of Moet :whoo:

:obama: Personally Webster Hall to me is the GOAT NYC club, now that place I got some stories

Point of reference. DJ Mister Cee. He apparently went on one of those "special" blocks that we all knew to avoid, and kept going back...... IYKYK. Ha

What I never see when people reminisce on The Tunnel, is how hectic it was trying to get home. Whether getting to the whip or walking back to the Iron Horse in the early hours of the morning, esp. through or around those PJs. It was always some kind of pressure on when the jump-out was coming and for who. Straight target status, Don't miss those days at all

No doubt, but not on every block around there. Drive too far over and you in transformer alley. No matter how fast your ride's 0-60 mph time was, it was never fast enough to get out of there hahaha. Like, "wtf did my eyes just witness? Let's just go home." Mood blown completely.

If you've been through that area recently, you wouldn't even recognize it. They even have the High Line over it and Chelsea Market a bit south. Further up 10 Ave now, you got Hudson Yards. People right now would not even believe that one of the grimiest hip hop spots in the world once was in that neighborhood. And all around it was the track (aka hoe stroll) back then.

I was staying with my grandmother who lived in Chelsea down the street from the Tunnel. One night I was getting some Ray's pizza and i saw a swarm of nikkas coming out the door chasing one dude down the block. He couldn't outrun them so the pack closed in on him and started giving him that boot work. I went out into the street to get a better look and I recognize it was some Boot Camp nikkas in the thick of it. Sean P and another nikka picked dude up by his arms with his legs hanging like the cops did Eddie Murphy in Trading Places. He had on white Timbs, so i guess he didn't went them to get dirty on the rainy sidewalk...but one of the guys took them off his feet and smashed them on the side of his head like a band member banging cymbals at the end of a routine. Then Rock came to me and snatched the plate with two slices out my hands like I was his kid and smashes it into his face. But he was like "My bad lil duke" and gave me a $20
:mjlol: damn bcc was wild

Thursday into Friday was the techno rave night .... too many super-gremlins scampering around after-hours lookin for somethin extra . . .. and too many heads ready and willing to feeed them after midnight . ..

Fredo Starr, member of the iconic rap group Onyx and a seasoned presence in film and television, dating back to The Wire and more. Now he is stepping behind the camera for the first time to bring one of New York City’s most legendary nightlife landmarks to the big screen. His directorial debut, The Tunnel, is an indie feature that dives deep into the electric spirit of 1990s New York and the unforgettable legacy of the club that defined an era.

This is low key big. The Tunnel was THAT club. Historic and notorious all wrapped into one. IYKYK.

As reported around the web, the film is a coming-of-age story set in 1990s New York City and centers around the iconic nightclub β€œThe Tunnel”. It follows two college basketball players, one played by rising actor Deyshaun Tucker, who are determined to have an unforgettable night by getting into the famous club. The upcoming movie explores themes of loyalty, ambition, and self-discovery during a wild night out. Beyond a club tale, β€œThe Tunnel” is described as a tribute to a vanished New York, capturing the raw energy and electric promise of a generation immersed in mixtape culture, graffiti, and the burgeoning hip-hop scene.

Sounds dope.

Fredro, who lived and breathed that era firsthand, is bringing a story filled with raw energy and emotional depth to the screen. The Tunnel is not just about music or nightlife but about the moment where ambition, loyalty, and love all collide under flashing lights and pounding bass.

He’s actually perfect to direct this film. Hoping he kills it so he can take his directing talents to new heights for his career and open the door to more people who look like him, at this stage in their journey, who want to take the reigns behind the camera."
