Anybody always run thru all they vacation and sick time before Mid-Year??

Last I checked I had 220 hours of vacation and 228 hours of sick time. I rarely take off and when I do it's usually my Friday or Monday. We work 4 10hour shifts and off 3 days

No because I get comp time for any hours worked over 12 hours per day and so when I travel I get a lot of hours as every third weekend hour counts plus you get a multiplier for any flight (total itinerary) over 16 hours. I end up taking at least one-comp day per month. Plus, with 'tele-working' I just clown around at home rather than taking a full day so I can stack vacation days and do at least two really good vacations per yer. I usually tele-work the Friday before travel and the first day back if I don't take a recoup day.

I typically finish the year with about a 45 hours worth of comp time and two weeks worth of 'use or lose' so what I end up doing is taking pretty much all of Dec and the beginning of Jan off. That'll leave me with about 12 days left in vacation for the year to build on and I typically have a business trip in February every year to start the 'padding' process. We typically get the day before Christmas till Jan 2nd off as a 'surprise' so I really only end up using like a two days during that time period and then I'll do like 7 business days after Jan 2nd.

So no, I don't run out but I'm lucky that I get comp time and tele-work options so I don't have to use vacation frequently.
