My Commute is only 4 miles, Northern VA is pretty bike friendly with a bunch of trails

Tired of taking the bus or a Cab to Work but some of the prices on these bikes got my head spinning but I don't want to buy a cheap Walmart Bike and have that shyt die on me.

If y'all got a bicycle, which one should I buy.

i would if I didn't stay so far from work or didn't have to take my daughter to school everyday.

The only thing I did was switch my seat out for a thicker cushioned one and it's very comfortable and light. I got a cousin that's over 400lbs and he was able to right my bike down the street and back with no problems. I also got 2 water bottle holders. But it mostly depends on what your budget is. Check out some bike shops around your town. You may find some used bikes for sale.

I have or had most of the expensive brands of bikes, specialized, trek, bianchi, peugeot, cannondale, gary fisher, univega, but do my 6 mile commute on a durable and economical Giant brand cycle Monday - Thurday and ride one of my expensive whips on friday. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_Manufacturing. Spend no less than $500-$600 for a new bike. I bought two giants from the pawn shop for about $200-$300. By all means go to a professional bike shop and not a department store.

And get good lighting and invest in disc brakes!
Goat safety lights!!!!!!!!!!!

I fuel my SUV about every two months.

the internet
Depends if the commute is flat or has inclines/declines.
Since you really havent done it before I would just say get any old bike...and once you start riding that you'll figure out what you want.

I got certs, but I got 20K in Student loans left :sadcam: ... but I had 30K in April 2012, By May I should be down to 4.5K and than I'll just stash 2K in a separate checking account and set up an Auto pay to withdraw 100 bucks a month.

It is what it is :manny: only got 5 months to go.
