I enjoyed Streets Disciple. It can get real somber and mellow, at points, but it's still a better double disc than what some will lead to believe. I don't consider this a weak album in the GOAT's catalog.

if you had to make it one disc with 14 tracks (avg tracks for nas album) what would you put on there?

Message To The Feds
Nazareth Savage
These Are Our Heroes
Disciple
Sekou Story
Live Now
Just A Moment
Rest Of My Life
Streets Disciple
Bridging The Gap
War
Remember The Times
Getting Married
Thiefs Theme

You Know My Style

Even then I'm leaving off Suicide Bounce, Reason, Virgo, U.B.R, and No One Else In The Room. Which I consider essential tracks. Me And You is an ode to his daughter and again, I would consider it essential. The only songs I consider true filler are Makings Of A Perfect bytch and American Way (Kelis's voice is annoying)

That's why I feel like Streets Disciple works best as is. It's a complete body of work. Not the best in his discography but an essential and important piece of it. The album came out at a time when he had a lot going on and a lot to say. Some of his best lyrical performances are on that album (Streets Disciple, Message To The Feds, Rest Of My Life) he had joints dropping knowledge (American Way, These Are Our Heroes) he had storytelling (Sekou Story, Live Now) he paid homage to a pioneer (U.B.R) he had a song respecting fathers and fatherhood (Bridging The Gap) every facet of him as an MC was represented as well as an overarching theme of maturity and growth.

That was actually the album that made me STOP being a Nas fan.

The album was horrible. I tried to come up with excuses back then too, but the shyt was wack. And I haven't trusted dude to drop hot consistent music since.

I think the album was hands down Nas' best lyrical performance; it was a straight tour-de-force of bars. But some on the concepts were a bit flat, and the beats were wack outside of a couple. Very disappointing album, and it goes without saying that it would have been a single disk.

For real, like what on earth possessed this nicca to rap over this beat in 2004?
