my old companies used to be really fun, like rent out webster hall in nyc, chelsea piers, went to one where Pitbull performed, but now at a smaller companies its too risky to get drunk

As I’ve said previously , the holiday party always tells you about the state of your company/organization ... if business is still boomin , the party usually reflects that . If not poppin , y’all will have pizza in the break room and some toxic, WalMart Christmas sugar cookies .

Not necessarily. I learned a company can have all the money in the world and still horde it for the top executives while tossing crumbs to the employees. Look at Amazon for instance. Some companies cheap out on extracurricular activities but will splurge on business related shyt.

amazon and certain companies that arose from Startup and startup-like conditions are different ...

I was gonna put in that caveat. But by and large , mid-sized to large companies solidly in the black for the year especially will have a really good Christmas party .

Company is simply too large for a real party so the departments have their own. But some will be “nice” enough to do theirs offsite while others cheap it out and do it right in the work space.

last year we had a multi floor company party for everyone and it was a shytshow. Everyone going to the elevators for something like a photo booth and then having to go back to the elevators for champagne and then back to the elevators for food. I just hope I’m off that day.
Same. Company is too huge to throw one Christmas party, so it’s up to the business lines and teams to throw their own, which my manager never throws :stopitslime:

Our company had it at the Raleigh Convention Center. Didn't go. My old job used to have it at the Sheraton Hotel that was next door; the company even rented out a block of rooms under the guise of protecting employees from drinking and driving... :shaq2: We all knew what it was; have some rooms ready so some of them executives have a place to smash. I knew a niigga who sent his wife home early thinking that he had to fly out the next morning and he went to the room and smashed the next broad....
