One of the most important lessons I've learned as I've gotten older is to run your own race, at your own pace. Every experience you've had; there's a lesson in it. There hasn't been time "wasted", just time utilized to develop other areas of yourself.

And as pointed before, everyone is trying to figure life out as it happens.

I would actually disagree with this. You run your own race but you don’t have all the time in the world and you can, in fact, waste time.

The issue that the OP and others have when they look back over a period of time and think that they have nothing to show for it is that they haven’t mastered efficiency. They haven’t made the best and optimal use of their time.

Efficiency deals with thorough planning. It deals with productivity. It deals with focus. It deals with procrastination. It deals with time allocation. It deals with knowing strengths and areas of weaknesses and addressing them. It deals with process improvement. It deals with automation. It deals with learning from mistakes and self-correction.

The idea of efficiency is a great skill to be studied and mastered.

It is the reason why some people acquired all the things that OP is opining for in less the time.

On a macro level, the black community as a whole is already behind and many of us who do end up being successful in some sense have had to work double time just for economic parity. Imagine, if you are not making the best use of your time how even further behind you are.

I agree you’re running your own race, but you have to be efficient with the time that you have because every minute counts.

Yep. And getting worse actually :unimpressed:

Anyway it sounds like at least you got a plan and a goal you want to reach, that's near to the most important things to have in life tbh.

Wasted time relative to what, exactly?

My point about time not being wasted is that the time is being used; it's happening. Whether or not it's being used in a particular way is a different discussion.

Just because the time isn't being used to develop some sort of arbitrary social or market driven actualization doesn't mean it's "wasted", necessarily. That time is being utilized, even if it's just to teach a lesson about how to more efficiently use it.

I'll put it this way; who's to say that OP would be able to come to a valuable means of self critique had he not "wasted" time? By virtue of what most would deem as "waste", he's having better insight about who he is, what he wants, etc.
