There is always a resonance between outer consumption and inner desires. Its simple resonance. Porn is a great example as people will watch another do what they personally wouldn't (or couldn't if they're lacking in their macking). Even in what many people would call a good relationship there is so much hidden, usually by the woman, due to the fear of judgement or misinterpretation etc...

Womens fantasies when unleashed are far, far wilder and crazier than any porno set could dream. Anyway, I say that to say this:

There is always an underside to what you find pleasurable and it is often linked to unfulfilled states, traits or wishes and therefore offer immense opportunities for growth if you're actually willing to step inside and gain some Knowledge of Self. Its hard to see, like a shadow in the dark, but is present. Before you JBO gamers get all up in your feels know this:

Its a process of increasing awareness aka doing the knowledge. I'm not judging or saying anything personal about you so if you feel like hollering turn over that hit dog and see what he's sitting on to find the true cause of the problem as I'm just a figment of your imagination, tapping keys.

Remember, we all signed up here because we gravitated toward street fairytales that shared harsh realities via aggressive content. The difference is I flipped the script and looked at the causes behind this effect instead of believing I was the projection and finding solace in resonance with that which mines the worst aspects within.

Welcome to the Game you play using your Soul as a credit. Yeah, the graphics are good but the trick is realizing you ain't it.

Quoted from a dope thread:

That Gangsta wave really touched something deep in peoples souls. Call it the frustration of a generation, the pain of the world over a dope beat or whatever you want but it had everyone acting real froggie.

Whats nuts is the current devolved state of rap can be traced back directly to this era as it all became one-upmanship and a need to increase shock value as the old "wow" was the new "been there done that" and the drugs got stronger...

I really do wonder if/how the artform will ever be raised back up to the artistry it used to be because it will be us that does it and not a label as they're caking off this new "no money down, no development, all profit" approach with disposable chewing music right now as the customers are happy with weak product as they don't know the difference between that and the uncut raw.

The Coli is obviously aware enough of this, on some level, as this thread attests. Just read the comments and consider how the art resonated with what people felt within. It provided a vent but it was also dangerous to those easily influenced and sharp as a cueball. Did you spot it in real time or only when we got together and kicked it in retrospect?

Back then you were too caught up in the wave to be non reactive. History repeats itself again. Unless you choose different:

The Knowledge won't do itself...

Played GTA 5 like crazy but I can't remember I went and killed a bunch of innocent people. usually, it's accidental murders *Benny voice*. I just be driving around and shyt.I'd rather just go play Mario and shyt
I don't avoid violent videogames, but i do try to avoid playing them in a violent manner if the game allows and it makes sense to the plot.
I hate ludo narrative dissidence so i don't really want my character killing people unless they are supposed to be a killer.

For example in Watchdogs 2 i did pretty much an entire kill free playthrough because the game allows for stealth, stuns and hacking instead of just gunplay. Didn't make make sense for a bunch of social media hacktivists to go around murdering people just to expose corporate greed in the tech industry.

Uncharted on the other hand low key bothered me, because this happy go lucky guy is going around racking up a crazy body count all for the sake of exploring and finding treasure, not even some honorable shyt like saving his town or something, yet the game wants you to act like hes the good guy, and not a murdering piece of shyt.
