The shyt that really blew my mind was random people keeping up with the "war in chiraq" because of Dj fat goofy. That was the final nail in the coffin; social media had 10 year old white boys from suburban neighborhoods in Canada saying "gang gang, on 4nem et"

They even have whole forums and Reddit pages to this shyt

They've co-opted our slang for a long time now. Way longer than 25 years.

Last few days I've heard different white people use "ghetto"; "ratchet"; "bruh"; and probably another one, all multiple times. They use it differently than we do, it sounds different, but its cool. Language is a unifier in general, and slang is a conduit within it.

Its still cringe oftentimes when you hear nonblacks and/or whites specifically using our slang.

A little off topic I’m old but i remember back in like the mid 90s where if you heard any type of hip hop or “urban” music in public spaces (stores/community events/sporting events etc)you would stop and be like “are they playing hip hop” hell even commercials

Organizations like the nfl was all rock and pop heavy so the closest you might hear is 2 live crew or mc hammer/ tone loc type music but even then it felt like a win for the hip hop culture

Now it’s so over saturated/forced and used it almost feels devalued

Last think I’ll say is how the word woke was hijacked and politicized ….it used to mean something totally different but it’s too far gone to bring back

i hate the way they just use it to mean “some old dude” when it was originally used to express love and respect to an elder in the community. Them stripping away the endearment of the term says a lot the culture that steals and co-opts.
