Anybody ever consider an electric vehicle or hybrid?

Not practical for me, but considering it if I replace my car with a pickup or SUV. The used ones (not Teslas) are relatively cheap compared to the new ones. Day-to-day range looks pretty decent too, but I don't think it's really practical for anybody with just one vehicle.

They're all ugly though, but the new Bolt is respectable.

I had a hybrid Civic about 10 years ago and absolutely loved it, but I got rear ended in the snow and pushed underneath an 18-wheeler. Needless to say, the car was totaled, and I ended up getting a regular Accord.

:mjcry:

I've heard the hybrid batteries are kind of terrible for the environment, but I'd really like to get a Tesla within a year or two. I'd like that to be my next big purchase. One of my friends got one about a year ago and has been loving it.

Yeah I’m done with the combustible engine for my next car. Hopefully the market will be more saturated in the next five years and prices go down
No doubt. I know Musk really wants to get the prices down on the Teslas and he's been pretty adamant that he thinks he can get the price down on them significantly over the next few years.

I'd like to see what they cost in 2022.

I’m hoping Europe’s more aggressive push for no gas means automakers of all kinds release more into the market than just Tesla.

I mean if they really have an electric Hummer we can get everything off oil.

There's a thread in the show room dedicated to Telsa's and it'll have you damn near salivating to visit the dealership after a quick read. I'm aiming for getting a new car in the next two years though. :ehh:

There's 3-6 year old cars going for $10-25K around here. That i3 is ugly but damn I'd jump on one if I needed a 2nd commuter. Especially with the range extenders. If you upgrade your battery I think tney'll get you 200 miles now.

EDIT: just rechecked 2020 Chevy Bolts re going for $25-30K :ohhh:

I just watched a review on them; dudes were sold. But if I had it like that I'd be on the Jaguar I-Pace :wow:

Is there a legit used car market for hybrid/electric cars? We could use a third car for some of the long treks we make and im assuming we could still claim the tax benefit.

Yeah, the way I heard it on those youtube videos all those 2014-15 leases are coming up, so you can get a $50-60K i3 for $25K now. And they all look like they have low mileage in my market. People are just commuting with them so they're probably not touching more than 10K miles a year. I see 2017s with 10K+ miles

EDIT: theres a base i3 going for $15K

Im interested in an electric bike, but have been underwhelmed so far.
I had high hopes for the electric Harley, but it doesn't offer enough for the 30k base price.

There's a reason those i3s and early Leafs are going dirt cheap on the used market. Don't do it to yourselves brehs :whoa:

From what I've read electric cars lose about 50% of their EPA range in the cold, add more on top of that if it's windy and even more if you're driving above 80 mph. Based on that anything other than Tesla is a no go, but a new long range Model 3 is 50k :manny:
