Anybody ever consider an electric vehicle or hybrid?

Is there a legit used car market for hybrid/electric cars? We could use a third car for some of the long treks we make and im assuming we could still claim the tax benefit.
maybe for electric but the tax benefit is doesnt apply hybrids if you aren't the first owner....

With that said, hybrids and electric cars rarely diminish in value.

You can come up on an old prius though, that might be anywhere from 3-6k though.

I've had an Avalon Hybrid for a little over a year (got a sweet deal on a '16). Suits me well. Reliable, practical, breeze to maintain, doesn't scream "hybrid", does well on long family trips - when we took our usual summer getaway from the DMV to the Carolinas and back last year, it was a really quiet, comfy ride. Almost made it to MBSC on one tank.

I'm all in on hybrids going forward, but I'm hoping to keep this one for a good while.

Still somewhat leery of full electric due to an irrational, extreme case of range anxiety.

I bought my Nissan Sentra in 2014 and its really good on gas.

During that time I looked at hybrids as well. Just didn't pull the trigger as they were a little more expensive and the car loans on those Toyotas and Hondas had something like 4% interest.

Nissan gave me mine for 0% interest :wow:

I drove around for a couple months in my in-laws hybrid civic, thought it was a great experience.

I like the sentiment of switching to hybrids (and reducing middle east dependence), but it's worth remembering there are environmental drawbacks to it too. If you really want to improve the environment, you have to full-on reduce the # of cars at your home and become a 1-car or 0-car family, or at least stop commuting by car. Just telling it like it is.

Had A BMW i3 with the back up gas generator for two years. My sister worked for BMW at the time and I got a great lease deal. It has it pros and cons. It was nice not filling up, the car was rode smooth as hell and has really nice pick up. The range sucked though, I would say on average about 70 miles per charge so thank God for the back up generator. That was 1.5 gallons and added 50 miles of range. I rent so I had no where to my car in so I either plugged it in at work or I would go to a charging station. If you could plug it in every night it's great, you can literally plug your car into a wall outlet. If your empty it'll take around 16-20 hours to charge if your plugging it in a regular outlet. But just plug it in every night if need be, you can even install a level 2 charger which cuts the charging time in half. If you can plug it in everyday they're great to have. There's also apps out there that for you the locations of charging stations throughout the area. That said it sucked for road trips. We used it a few times, once from Queens NY to sesame place in PA and once to Montauk. The back up gas generator was the only reason it was possible though. When the lease was up I really wanted to get a hybrid and was looking at the Hyundai ioniq and kia Niro but they were a little more than I wanted to spend at the moment so I went with a pre owned Accord.

The RS6 is coming stateside pretty soon and I'm strongly considering it, I really like hybrid aspect of it.

I'm probably going to buy an M4 or C63S this summer

We only get one environment and that's the one we create.
