Anybody ever had a "Boxer's Fracture"?

Long story short, got drunk and punched a door last night..went to ER today and got X-ray of my hand to reveal what the doc called a Boxers Fracture...he told me I'll have to see an orthopedic surgeon to set the pinkie and knuckle in the right place and I asked if I would need to have surgery and he said it would be up to the orthopedic doc..

Was just wondering if anybody had ever experienced a fracture like this and what was your experience with it? Did you have to have surgery? How long was the healing process?

I had a fifth and fourth meta carpel bones broken in my hand...make sure you see a doctor asap..I continued working for 2 weeks with a broken hand (didnt know it was broken) and the bones started healing all warped and sh!t...now I get pains in that side of my hand every now and then.. and sh!t hurts in the cold.

You never realize how important your hands are until you break one...try wiping your ass with your left hand.. you always feel like you've left a dingleberry there or something, even after you've used half the frikken roll.

Was it displaced? They're usually not so they don't need surgery, but it'll depend on the xray the day of your appointment (if it's a Reverse Bennett's you'll need surgery regardless, that's an unstable fracture). But splinting + physiotherapy is usually part of it.

Either way, just don't miss your appointment and see what the ortho recommends.

yea, it was an actual fight though, all they did was set it in a cast like a normal broken bone.
